Task One | Safe Space

Task one | A Safe Space

Tucked in the back corner of her art gallery holds a room that is nothing but chaotic good. The walls are smeared with an array of colors that Tabitha gave up cleaning years ago, and the floors should have never been carpeted to begin with. The smell is overwhelming with acrylic paint, paint thinner, and stale water that had been left to bathe soiled brushes. Along the walls, canvases are laid. Some are finished projects just waiting to be displayed, while others are barely started. Ideas that seemed so good in her mind, yet could not translate well onto the rough white surface. While some people would enter and shy away from the disarray, her art studio was Tabitha's safe space.

When life got a little too stressful, the blonde would always turn to her art. Painting had always felt much more freeing to her than photography. With a brush in her hand, she could close her mind to the outside world and just let go. On the really bad days, she would close her eyes and just let her soul do the talking. When she opened her blue hues once more, she would either be met with a beautiful abstract to add to her slowly growing pile of 'keeps' or it would turn into a muddy mess that would leave her laughing at how ridiculous the whole thing really was. Either way, when she left the studio at the end of it, she always felt a sense of relief. There was a feeling of weight being lifted from her shoulders.

Not everyone gets to see inside her studio, because not everyone is worthy of such a personal space. It may seem like a small back closet to most, but for Tabitha it holds so much more. It's where she finds her peace when the days are long and hectic, it's where she finds her light when her mind is dark and twisty, and it's where she finds her joy when the stormclouds overtake her perception. She's not going to just allow anyone in and ruin what she has going for herself. If you're one of the few selected to take a look inside, be grateful for what she has given you because it is nothing but a badge of honor.
