As the sun began to shine through the window oh her loft Aurora rolled over groaning softly. Pulling the pillow over her head she tried to block everything out for just a few more minutes of sleep. A few moments later her begins to blare. Groaning she slipped out of her bed and stretched before walking into her bathroom and turning on the hot water. As she washed her hair and body she thought about the events of the past few days. She had been going nonstop between the shop and her tours. Lucky today she only a consultation and no tours. She would be able to have the rest of the day to herself.
After she finished in the shower she got out quickly and wrapped the towel around her body. Making her way back into her room she looked through her dresser for some underclothes. She grabbed a black lace bra and matching underwear. Grabbing a pair of black skinny jeans and a grey v neck sweater. Pulling her clothes on she sat down drying her hair. She quickly did her makeup. Giving herself a soft Smokey eye with wing liner. She put on she signature red red lip. Grabbing her perfume she sprayed herself before pulling her favorite a pair of red converses.
Checking out her outfit in the mirror she smiled and pulled on her black choker necklace. Grabbing her keys phone and wallet she head downstairs. As we walked into the shop she smiled and started turning on the lights. That was the one upside about her loft. She lived above her shop so she didn’t have very far to go for work. Unlocking the doors she smiled ushering in the small female. Quickly doing the consultation for the back piece she wanted she told her to give her a few weeks and she would have the design ready. Running her hand along the counter she waved her goodbye and then smiled as her other artist came in. “ you guys have this today. I’ll be back later.” She said as she walked out and headed down the street towards her Aunts store. She needed some coffee and a good book to ready.
Walking inside she smiled ordering her usual drink she hugged her aunt. “We got some new things over in the fantasy section.” Her aunt said handing her the drink. She took her drink taking a sip and walking around the store. Being a hybrid she didn’t fit perfectly into either community but most people didn’t know about her vampire side. Her Aunt had taught her many spells and showed her how to hide her vampire side from others. She even had a special section in the back of her store that was for supernaturals only. As she perused through the shelves and shelves of books. See if I can get any information. The store looked tiny from the outside but it was actually 2 stories, and was spelled to be a lot bigger than normal. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath taking in the scent of old and new books. As she read the names of the books on the wall she saw an intriguing one and went to grab it. As her hand raised she felt another hand touch hers. She handy noticed anyone else around her “ohh I’m sorry.” She said apologizing to him as well. She gave him a small smile. Listening to the warning.
Looking over the brunette male she gave him a bigger smile. She could tell he was a witch, but there was a different aura about him. She wasn’t scared of him though. Her powers were very powerful, she often had to mask her aura not to terrify people. She grabbed the book and did a spell making a copy of the book. “ here.” She said handing him the original book. “ I’m Aurora. You have a good taste in books.” She said lifting the book a little in reference.
”I think I’m actually getting the hang of this waitressing business, wouldn’t you say?” Maya said, grinning ear to ear staring at Ridd*ck. Only for his wife being an owner too or the girl wouldn’t even still have this job. The amount of glasses, plates and bottles she had broken during her shifts since she’d started the job. The face on Ridd*ck said all it needed to answer her question, and it was definitely a no. She rolled her eyes at her boss and then shrugged her shoulders. “Well, you ain’t firing me anyway so what can ya do?” She gave him an innocent smile, knowing well Amelia would convince him to keep her for another week if she broke something else. But the record right now was a couple of days with nothing broken.
The bar was particularly busy tonight. Maybe just because it was a Friday night near the end of the month so most people wanted to go out and enjoy their weekend.
The laws in the States were completely different to the ones in Ireland and sometimes Maya would forget that you actually had to be twenty one to drink over here. It was a pain in the ass trying to always remember to ask customers for ID when she would be behind the bar because if they looked over eighteen in her eyes they were big and bold enough to handle the tequila they were ordering. Oh how wrong she was. It seems like most people in the city couldn’t hold their alcohol, couple shots and they’re on the ground snoring their brains out or they’re trying to start fights with her or other customers. Another thing people didn’t really do back at home. They’d fight each other but they would at least take it outside first so they didn’t damage the local bar and both get barred in the process. Drink and pubs are too precious to the Irish to do stupid things like that. Especially in small towns like her hometown.
”Did you see who’s here?” She heard one woman say to her friend while standing at the bar. She lifted her head up from the book she had behind the counter and scanned the room. No face stood out at her right away so she thought nothing of it. ”Wonder what he’s working on now.” She caught another conversation. ”Did you read the book?” Another conversation. Maya lifted her gaze once again and this time followed most people’s eyes to the direction she needed to look to. There was one man sitting at a table eating and drinking by himself. When her eyes landed on him she got her gut feeling she always got when she would be around new people. The sense of whether she could trust them or not. She was an amazing judge of character and her intuition always steered her right. Curious to why everyone was talking about him she turned her attention to the two women who were sat at the bar drinking their c*cktails.
”So who’s the guy everyone is staring at and talking about huh?” She had no idea just from his face who he was but that feeling she got, it was telling her that she should try and know him. Why? She didn’t know that yet.
”Draven Carmichael. He’s an author who’s from ‘round here so everyone knows him. He done well with is book so these parts he’s a hot shot kinda.”
Listening to what the woman said, Maya nodded slightly. The feeling she had not going away so she gave into it. She pulled the cloth she had tucked into her jeans pocket out and put it on the counter and walked out from behind the bar.
A lot of people would say that Maya is quite abrupt and persistent, along with doesn’t give a flying sh*t who she talks to or who she offends talking to someone. Maybe she should be a bit more aware of how she comes across but it’s just something she’s never cared about.
She made her way over to the male who was sitting by himself. She pulled out the empty chair across and plopped herself down onto it. Was it a bit much? Probably. Hell, the guy could turn around and rightly tell her to f*** off and Ridd*ck would only love to give her sh*t for it too. “So, big shot author huh? Whatya write about? ‘Cause you got the attention of most people in this bar right now. I have no idea who you are but for some reason I can’t put my finger on it but my gut is telling me I should get to know you.” She paused, her brows furrowing together and her lips pursing together in confusion as she stared at him for a second before relaxing her features. “Normally I’m not wrong, but I know I’m a bit of an oddball so if you’re gonna tell me to f*** off just do it quietly so Ridd*ck doesn’t give out and I’ll bring you a drink on the house… Also don’t tell him that either.” She said the last part in a whisper, glancing around her hoping her boss didn’t just pop up out of nowhere.
“Beep… Beep… Beep.” Ondina groaned softly as her alarm clock blared. Leaning over it was just after 6am, shutting off the alarm she slid out of bed walking over to her closet and quickly changed into her running outfit. Grabbing her headphones she pulled her hair into a braid and made her way downstairs. As she slid her headphones into her ears she went for her 4 mile run. Arriving back at her place she sat on the front steps taking a few deep breaths. After her breathing evened out she made her way inside and got into the shower. She sighed as the warm water hit her body. Washing her hair and with her jasmine and vanilla shampoo she relaxed as she lathered the product in her hair.
After about 10 minutes she turned the water off. She grabbed a towel she made her way back to her room and looked around for some clothes. Throwing in some underclothes she pulled on a pair of dark washed ripped skinny jeans and a white silk shirt. Grabbing her black vans she was almost ready for the day. Throwing her wet hair back in a braid she threw on some chapstick and made her way to the living room. Cleaning up her apartment and starting some laundry she started ticking off the things in her todo list. She plugged in a new air freshener and the grabbed the trash as she walked outside.
Tossing the bag in her trash can she started walking down the street. She was headed to the garden district to catch up with an old friend when her phone rang. Pulling it out she looked down and signed it was her brother again. She sent him to voicemail before sending him a text “ I’m still not talking to you guys. I get why they sent me away, but I am the oldest and the Alpha title was rightfully mine. And he just gave it to you, didn’t even ask me if i wanted to come home to take over. That was mine by birth and I worked hard and it was just ripped away from me. So no, I’m not coming home for the ball.” She sent the message and then put her phone back in her pocket. They had been trying to get her to come home for 4 years now and thought the winter ball might convince her. Being werewolf royalty meant she should be in attendance but she was tired of her family acting like she was still a vulnerable child.
She was so caught up in her thoughts she didn’t even notice how far she had walked “ f***!” She turned down a side street and started making her way to her destination. When she arrived at Draven’s she knocked on the door and waited for him him to answer.
