Rezaren is considered a villain. He is also a slave-owner. He can be an antagonist to your character, an ally or a friend, or love interest.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES: Blue eyes, long brown hair, clean-shaven, a lean and tall
form. ATTIRE: Is seen wearing magister robes. The design appears to be unique to
House Ammosine. PERSONALITY TRAITS: Egocentric, stubborn, questionable morals, skilled mage, very ambitious, sharp intellect, not afraid to take risks to achieve his goals.
Appears in control, confident and considerate, but can be impulsive, manipulative and
ruthless when things don't go his way. He is trusting of others, but is not necessarily trustworthy himself when it
doesn't arrange him.
POTENTIAL: His perception of slaves and family is skewed due to his upbringing in Tevinter.
Perhaps by meeting the right opponent he can be stopped... or sink further into his personal
delusions.
▼ BACKGROUND ▼
SLAVES AS SIBLINGS: During his childhood, his mother owned two elven twins
around his age whom she would raise as his personal assassin and bodyguard—Miriam and Neb. Although Rezaren
played
with the elven siblings and thought of them as family when they were children, Rezaren's mother liberally
beat and
mistreated them in front of him, especially Miriam, to remind the twins that they were their slaves to be
used—not
their equals.
BECOMING MAGISTER:
Rezaren would later become a Magister and join the Imperial Chantry in hopes of one day becoming the
Imperial
Divine. Magisters are members of the Magisterium, the upper house of the Tevinter Imperial Senate. They are
amongst the most powerful mages since the ancient times.
CIRCULUM INFINITUS:
After coaxing the Divine, Rezaren traveled to Nessum to study the artifact known as the Circulum Infinitus.
Rezaren
contends that if he can understand how the Circulum was made, he can modify it to be powered by an
alternative means
other than blood magic. Knight-Commander Tassia is concerned that his obsession with the Circulum may tempt
Rezaren to do
wrongs to achieve his goals.
Rezaren remains determined to harness the Circulum's capability of resurrecting the
dead back to life even if it means to resort to blood magic and convinces Tassia that it will be a boon to
Tevinter
in the end.

▼ BLOOD MAGIC & TEVINTER ▼
BLOOD MAGIC:
"Blood magic is a school of magic that taps into the inherent power of blood to fuel spellcasting and
that can be used for violent corrupting purposes such as mind control and demon
summoning."
In Tevinter, blood magic is widely, if quietly, practiced amongst any mage of rank. Using one's own
blood or the blood of a willing participant is acceptable, but it is limited in its power. The need for
supplementary power can lead to an extreme usage of blood magic that includes sacrifices and demon
summoning. A mage that learns how to master it will give them an edge. A lot, if not most Magisters in the
Imperium have learned it out of necessity.
TEVINTER:
Tevinter society is controversial and highly stratified, with citizens classified into different
levels depending on their ancestry and magical ability. As opposed to the rest of Thedas, Tevinter runs on
magic and slavery is not only legal but officially sanctioned. There is a flexibility in the Imperium's social classes that allows a mage born into a lower class family or a slave to be uplifted to the magical aristocracy if they have the required qualities.
SOCIAL CLASSES
▷ Altus: Highest ranking mages in the Imperium. They are the leading force in Tevinter politics and dominate the Magisterium.
▷ Laetans: Mages with strong magical bloodlines, but without link to the Altus.
▷ Praetari: Mages from lower-class families.
▶ Soporati: Common citizens who do not possess magic. Non-mages, merchants, civil servants, etc. They outnumber the upper classes.
▶ Slaves - Liberati & Servus Publicus: Slaves are constituted of elves, humans, dwarves,
Qunari, and mages. Liberati is a subclass who work as servants to the Magisters of Tevinter, or on farms, or in factories. Servus Publicus are the lowest class, not considered citizens.
