Enter A World of Madness
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.”
- H.P. Lovecraft
Strange and terrible things are happening in Jonesport, Maine of late. People are disappearing without a trace, and an unsettling number of suicides have begun to devastate the residents of the old New England fishing town. Thus the locals have grown cold and weary of one another; fishermen, who’ve been casting their lines and nets in the frigid North Atlantic for decades now talk of strange tides and inky black, barren waters. Even the police are at a loss for what to do, for each new suicide or missing persons case is just as puzzling as the last. What the people of Jonesport do know, however, is that whatever’s happening is far beyond the reach of anything the human mind will ever be capable of understanding.
Something is calling. You may not be able to hear it now, but you soon will. It is inevitable, and it calls for us all within the deepest and darkest depths of our dreams, from which we are helpless to escape. What you choose to do when it does is up to you. Will you join the growing masses and worship it? Or will you go mad in your struggle to deny it? Whatever you decide, one thing is certain: the Great Dreamer is waking up, and when he does, there won’t be anything anyone will be able to do to stop him.

What is Mythos?
Mythos is an original role playing group loosely based on the ever famous Cthulhu Mythos, a shared fictional universe written and collaborated by many authors based on the original short stories of the American horror writer, H.P. Lovecraft. Specifically, The Call of Cthulhu.
What genre is Mythos?
Mythos is an exciting mix of modern day science fiction and horror. The setting takes place in various locations in and around the fictional town of Jonesport, Maine.
Who are the Characters?
All of the characters within Mythos are original, and have been made specifically for our story and all the terrifying events that are in store for them. If you’d like to become part of the story and join the cast, all available roles may be found [here].
Do I have to know anything specific about the Cthulhu Mythos to do well in your RPG?
Absolutely not. While Mythos may take inspiration and classic themes from H. P. Lovecraft’s The Call of Cthulhu (and other works), Mythos is still its own entity, similar to how A Game of Thrones differs from George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. You don’t have to read the stories to be part of the events or know what’s going on. Everything within the RPG will unravel and become known to you in time.
I don’t like my character’s face. Can I change it?
Short answer: no. Long answer: all character faces took a very long time to plan out, and work well with our world and story. Therefore we ask that you refrain from asking if you can change the face of your character. However, we will accept character concepts for the future, as well as face suggestions for them.
Will Cthulhu or any of the Old Ones be in it?
My dear, sweet reader… you'll just have to wait and see.
Important Note from the Moderator
Hey everyone, Cole Grayson here, the creator of Mythos. I feel it is important to mention that while I’ve received a lot of help from some of the members of Mythos, the group is still owned and operated by me alone. That means all of the storyline planning and plotting is coming from me, and may take a little extra time for blogs to be released, depending on my life outside of roleplay. However, I am more than willing to talk about plot points with those who have taken a deep and sincere interest in Mythos, and would love to hear your ideas.
