Harley didn't know all the ins and outs of the new recruit.   She'd BARELY been given enough INFORMATION to find a way to tempt her in.   A hybrid of multiple species ,   including alien.   Her ancestors OBVIOUSLY pulled the UNLUCKY straw when landing on Earth.   Number six ,   as Waller had introduced her ,   was intended to be the SIXTH member on their SQUAD for the upcoming mission.   Harley hadn't taken Amanda Waller as a pattern lover but she found some HUMOUR in it.   Alongside them was going to be SECOND-IN-COMMAND Deadshot ,   Australian thief Captain Boomerang ,   a man who looked like a crocodile   ( aptly named Killer Croc ) ,   and a guy who was KNOWN for setting himself on FIRE   ( El Diablo   —   conveniently translated as The Devil   —   because there wasn't enough excitement already ).   Harley had PLANNED to go through the team ,   INTRODUCE them and give them a rundown to Sadie ,   in the hope that knowing she wasn't alone was a good tactic.   An EX-PSYCHOLOGIST had to ATTEMPT to find the right buttons to press and it had seemed like as good a shout as any.   Harley was the one in charge this time ,   after all.   WHY ??   Well ,   Harley wasn't SURE.   Her past record showed that she would attempt to run away at a given moment when the opportunity arose.   But she wasn't HOOKED in by the JOKER right now ,   there was no one else out there in her corner.   Maybe Waller knew that which was why she'd given her the opportunity to PROVE herself ,   to give her a FEW people in her corner.

Her thought ended when Sadie finally spoke ,   bringing her back to the side mission at hand which was EASIER than she THOUGHT it was going to be.   ❝ But I hadda whole speech planned.   An' a powerpoint presentation but THEY wouldn't let me bring their laptop in. ❞   Maybe THAT was because they had PLANNED to shock her into submission.   But one loose cannon in a team simply wasn't good enough for Waller apparently.   That SUCKED.   Harley KNEW she had a lot to give in that department amongst others although she also knew she had to rein it in if she wanted to REMAIN in charge in the FIELD, and with her head still attached to her body.   ❝ Ya gave me the correct answer tho ,   so we just got ONE more thing to prep. ❞   For NOW ,   the blonde had to play BALL ,   which started with accepting her duties as field leader.   Waller didn't want to waste any more bodies than NECESSARY and Rick Flag had EARNED the title of   ❛ useful enough to no longer be thrown into a suicide squad ❜.   If they'd have known before now Harley WOULD have thrown him a FAREWELL party.   As it stood ,   she just had to step into his shoes as best she could which was difficult given her ZERO seconds of military EXPERIENCE.   She reached into her pocket ,   and pulled out a small device.   A nanite bomb injector ,   technology which ALLOWED Waller to CONTROL them all.   It was closely controlled so it couldn't be used in any other manner.   She knew that because she'd tried previously ,   and that had ended BADLY for EVERYONE involved.    ❝ Now ya gotta get stabbed !!   Ya do that we can getcha's OUTTA ya jacket and into somethin' way more FASHIONABLE !! ❞
