Considered one of the greatest tight ends of all time, Bennett Riggs is a nine-time Pro Bowler and a seven-time All-Pro, with 4 first-team and 3 second-team selections. He holds the NFL records for most consecutive and most overall seasons with 1,000 receiving yards by a tight end: seven. He holds the record for most receiving yards by a tight end in a single season with 1,416 in 2020, despite playing in only 15 games. During the 2022 season, Riggs became the fifth NFL tight end to reach 10,000 career receiving yards and reached the milestone faster than any tight end in NFL history. Riggs was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. During the 2023 season, he surpassed Jerry Rice in career playoff receptions en route to Super Bowl LVIII, his fourth Super Bowl appearance in five seasons.
He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio with his older brother Jason Riggs who he has to thank for his football career. In high school he played basketball, football, and baseball, skipping hockey as the players had to wake up too early.
Riggs went to college and followed in his brother’s footsteps. In college he partied hard and maintained the lowest average he could to remain on the football team. He dabbled in drugs and drank often. He was caught one season and kicked off the team during his brother’s senior year. Jason stood up for his brother and convinced the coach to allow Bennett another shot at playing. He cleaned up his act enough to play football the following season.
Riggs was drafted the following year to play in Kansas City and has remained faithful to the team since. During his time with the Chiefs, Riggs continued his college education in his spare time. He graduated in 2022 with a bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies. He also has won three Super Bowls with the team.
Riggs is very close with his family. His parents are spotted at his games often. He and his brother record a weekly podcast where they talk about their lives in addition to football news from around the league. He loves being an uncle to his three nieces and can’t wait to have his own family.
In December of 2023, Riggs was pulled over and arrested for possession with intent to sell on his way to a party. In an attempt to cover up the mugshot and arrest his publicist set him up with Honey Shaw who was also struggling in the public eye after being arrested for a DUI. The two dated for PR but their relationship quickly turned intimate and real after their first night together. The couple had attended college together and knew each other while in school.
Riggs and Shaw have been going strong publicly and the two have been spotted in various places around the globe. Kansas City being their primary home base but pictures of the couple have been taken in New York City and Los Angeles where the songstress has homes. Shaw is often spotted cheering Riggs on at home and away games for the Chiefs and Riggs has been spotted in Argentina, Australia, and Singapore at Shaw’s concerts.
Riggs and Shaw got a dog together in February and also got engaged. Rumors that the two secretly tied the knot have been flying around but neither have commented on the allegations. A public wedding is expected before the singer’s new album releases this April.

After a bit of a rough start to their relationship, Dakota and Bennett had actually become incredibly close which she was actually grateful for. He was definitely the older brother she'd always wanted, but never had. And not just that, she was so proud of the person she had watched him become in the time she had known him. Plus, the way he was with her and Jason's daughters was extremely adorable. She was definitely grateful for his presence in her life.
When Dakota answered the phone, she could immediately tell that something weighing heavily on Bennett's mind. What could possibly be wrong? Bennett was at the top of his game, on one of the best teams in the NFL and headed to the AFC Championship Game in Baltimore along with dating the biggest pop star in the world currently in Honey Shaw. But whatever it was, she'd be there to offer her advice and support - just as she always done when it came to the younger Riggs brother.
"Impeccable timing actually. And I'll be up for a while anyways, I have stuff to do around the house that I normally don't get a chance to do during the day due to chasing two toddlers and a baby around the house. So, I'm all ears." When Bennett had asked her about knowing when Jason was the one for her, she immediately knew where this was headed and she was so excited as she knew that he and Honey were perfect for one another.
"Mm, I'd say like a few months in. We just instantly hit it off and had this absolutely electric chemistry that I've never had with anyone else. I think the biggest thing that really sealed the deal for me was that our relationship wasn't smooth sailing in the early stages and where those setbacks might derail any other couple, the hard times brought us even closer together. And I just couldn't imagine my life without Jason. Also, for the second question - if he would have asked me to marry him right after we met, I absolutely would have without a doubt. It sounds like you already have your mind made up, Bennett. I think you need to pull the trigger on this."
“Your dad is gonna kill me,” the blonde said quietly as she carried a box into the house she shared with Bennett. It was heavier than she expected, little holes poked through the cardboard so the contents inside could breathe.
Valentine’s day was just another day to her, not one that she loved to celebrate, but this year felt different. It was different. She had so much to look forward to — a wedding to plan, growing their family by ten little toes, and falling more in love with Bennett as each day passed. But something was missing; their house was too quiet. On the days Bennett was stuck at practice, Honey sat alone in a massive house, wondering what it would feel like had she not been by herself.
And that’s where the box came in.
“Okay, little guy,” she said, setting the box down in the spare bedroom closest to their living room. Pulling the lid off, Honey smiled down at the puppy who whined with excitement upon seeing her, his little tail wagging. “Shhh, we’re trying to be secretive!” She said with a small laugh, picking up the dog and holding him in her arms. “Okay, here’s the plan. I’m gonna text your dad, and tell him to come meet me downstairs because I need help with something. And then you,” her finger tapped on the dog’s nose. “Are gonna come running in with a cute red bow around your neck, and he’s gonna be reallllllllly surprised.” Probably mad, but she didn’t care.
Pulling out her phone, Honey texted Bennett.
Text to: Babe Message: Can you meet me downstairs in the guest room? I need help hanging a painting.
A few moments later, footsteps could be heard from above, and Honey knew it was now or never. He’d either be really excited, or really pissed she didn’t ask him first — she was hoping for the former rather than the ladder. Still holding the puppy, Honey waited on the bed, her heart pounded against her chest, and when the door opened and Bennett stepped inside, she took a moment to study his face, a smile tugging on her lips. “Surprise? Happy Valentine’s day!”
jason knew he wasn't going to let anyone see him as broken down as he is right now besides his older brother, and it makes him hate that he's so far away even more than he normally does. even though he called their mama and she was heading down for a few days, jason couldn't help but feel he needed to be there, too. granted, he doesn't understand what he and honey are currently experiencing. but, jason's job bennett's entire life was to take care of his little brother and protect him from everything bad in the world.
he couldn't protect him from this, though.
"we could use the bowl coming up as a reason to skip this week, or a reason that i do it solo. i'm sure dakota would come help me with an episode if you need to just take some time." deep down, he knew that bennett wouldn't take the week off due to him needing something to focus his mind on, but at the same time, jason didn't think that he could fake it enough to get through an entire podcast. with everything that's going on, and with the super bowl coming up, he didn't think bennett would be able just to push everything aside to get through this.
"i'm worried about you. i know you want to take care of honey, but you need to take care of yourself, too, brother. i know you said mama's coming down for a few days. but, you know dakota would understand if i came down for a day or two, too. you know that, right? if nothing else, for you to be able to truly just let everything out because i know you won't around them." bennett and jason both hid their emotions from the important women in their lives and either let each other see their weak moments or they handled them behind closed doors and alone. jason knew bennett couldn't handle this alone -- who could? frowning as he looked at his camera, jason would grab his bottle of water and took a decent sip from it.
"come on, let me talk to dakota and come down for the weekend? we can wait for the episode, hell we can record it there if you want. it's not a big deal, i promise." he didn't feel like bennett was just going to say yes, but jason wasn't exactly going to take no for an answer, either.
Donna always treasured being a mother, nothing made her feel more fulfilled than her boys. If anyone were to ask her what her greatest accomplishments were, she would name Jason and Bennett. With the both of them off doing their own things and starting their own family's Donna quickly found that she needed to find something to occupy her time, something to keep her busy. Using the attention she got from both her sons being in the Superbowl she started a foundation with a friend of hers for children who don’t have anyone or anything. Making it her life's mission to do for others what she was able to do for her own children.
Driving home from her office when she got the call from Bennett that Honey had just had the unimaginable happen to her. Her heart broke for the two of them, she knew how excited they were. How much they both wanted children. She watched Bennett with the girls, they’ve loved their uncle since the day they were born. She knew early on that he would be an amazing father, always putting everyone else before him, and the love he has to give. She knew right away she wanted to make a trip out to see them, knowing they would tell her they were okay. That they were managing, but she knows exactly what this does not only to the body but to the mind.
She sent Bennett a copy of her plane ticket so he knew when she’d be coming and packed her things to fly out that coming weekend, giving them some time to grieve together not wanting to intrude. Her plane took off that next Saturday and she was on her way. She could hear it in Bennett's voice when she spoke to him, he was trying to put on a front but Donna was able to see (or in this case hear) right through it. She landed a mere 2 hours later and headed to retrieve her rental car. Sending a quick text to her son -Landed, I’ll be there soon! Love you-
Donna made a pit stop at the store and picked up a few things to prepare dinner for the three of them. Donna first met Honey at a game and even though the two of them swore they couldn't stand one another she caught the glances the two of them shared when the other wasn’t looking. Quietly she was rooting for them because it only took meeting Honey once for Donna to fall in love with her. She was so kind-hearted, and down to earth. The two easily lost in conversations. She pulled into the driveway and threw her car in park, gathering the bags she just got at the store and her purse she climbed from the car and made her way towards the large front door. Knocking with her free hand she waited.
