Petal Black
The flower that will never wilt.
Petal was born in the early morning of December 3rd, 1894 at her parents home to Charles and Freya Blackburn. Her mother was a Scottish immigrant who moved to England for a fresh start, and met Charles who was a fellow neighbour. Her parents were thrilled when Petal was born, as Freya thought she was as beautiful as a rose - naming her Petal. Unfortunately, the small family would not have a happy ending.
Petalโs father was once in a happy relationship with an ex-girlfriend, Grace, but ended things when he started having feelings for Freya. Grace was heartbroken when she heard the news of her ex getting married and having a child. Graceโs anger and jealousy took over her and she broke into the Blackburnโs home, brutally murdered her parents and left the innocent on her own. Soon, the police arrived after the neighbours called when they heard screaming. They arrested Grace and took Petal to a nearby orphanage.
By the time Petal was eight years old, she had bounced from four different orphanages since she was two years old. Some of the staff did not have patience for her unique personality. When Petal was almost eleven years old, she was adopted by an older couple who was looking for someone to help them out. Petal was picked and took the next train to Salisbury. Upon her arrival, they were decently kind to her - but later on they became emotionally and physically abusive towards her. Treating Petal as their personal servant, while doing her best to help them run the small hotel they owned, and do the farmwork.
When Petal had turned eighteen, her adoptive parents wanted to move their hotel business to the United States, and decided to travel on the Titanic. On the night the ship hit the iceberg, Petal was on her way back to her dorm in the middle class after spending an enjoyable night at the dining hall. Just as she was about to take her dorm key out from her purse, she noticed blood stains on the wall and the floor. As she followed the stains, she found a woman lying dead in the middle of the hallway.
Terrified, Petal began to call out for help until an ice cold hand grabbed her by the neck, closing in her airway. โDo not scream - and I may let you live.โ A husky voice whispered in her ear, feeling a sharp and painful jab into her neck, feeling her own blood be drained out of her bodyโฆand then everything turned black.
Petal woke up to find the womanโs body was gone, and to find half of the water was filled in the hallway. By the time she made it to the middle classed dock, there were no life jackets nor rescue boats left.
On April 15th, 1912 - Petal and hundreds of passengers froze to death while waiting to be rescued. Then Petal suddenly woke up with her throat being dry and sore, craving to taste blood for the first time.Petal and a small group of survivors were rescued when one rescue boat arrived, and quickly fled to safety when they arrived in New York City. The young girl wandered around, trying to figure out what happened to her and what she was. As she wandered into an alleyway - she noticed her first prey. She could smell his blood from a distance, and it made her mouth water in thirst. She sneaked behind and grabbed him, sinking her fangs into his neck and drained the life out of him. Petal was shocked at herself for killing an innocent being, feeling terrible she began to cry - not sure what to do. Then, she saw a well-dressed man approach her with a gentle smile on his face. He told her to not be afraid, and hid the body, and promised her that he would take her somewhere safe. The manโs name was Nicolas, and he was a vampire, too. Although he was much older, he took her under his wing and helped her learn how to control herself and enjoy the perks of the vampire. Soon, he legally adopted Petal as his daughter, and added another vampire to their family - Ah-In.
Petal would eventually go on her own after training and learning to control her thirst, blending a human and enjoying her new life as a vampire.
