A name chosen by her parents as to reflect her possibilities in the world, a representation of the collision of light and dark, and a subconscious forewarning of abilities she is yet to discover and wield. The necessity of understanding the cycle of life and death forced Ernalines parents to create a corporal life-form of their daughter on her 21st Birthday, a extraordinarily painful experience, for she too needs to contribute to the cycle and understand when to intervene and experience consequences of when intervention or lack thereof is the wrong choice.
For now she is learning how to be exist as a human, working in a supernatural being based bar – Black Tavern – where she primarily cleans and deals with serving simple drinks while learning cocktail recipes and trade secrets in how to deal with drunken fools during closing hours. The owner, Gavin Black, has been exceptionally kind in not asking clearly painful questions when Ernaline could provide no ID or background checks, taking on a brotherly role as well as employing her and allowing her to subsequently have the money required to rent a cheap motel room a short walk from the bar so she did not find herself stranded on the streets.
Her abilities are gradually manifesting, both a blessing and a curse, for through the blue eye she sees the soul of each lifeform (including if they are human or not, for each supernatural being presents differently despite how their soul maintains similarities to humans) as well as a few small but key aspects of their life, but through the brown eye she sees their inevitable demise and the departed souls that have not yet moved on. She cannot yet manipulate life and death to bend to her will, but her parents watch in silence from the shadows awaiting the day she finally realises more of what she can do, and wondering if she is a neutral balance or if instead there shall be a which parent she is most similar to – will she be ‘good’, ‘evil’ or somewhere in-between?
Life and Death know their child has been lost to Earth and shall never return to her prior multi-dimensional existence nor their arms, for Ernaline falls in love with the ways of humanity more with every passing day.
